Today Here Comes The Trio headed to Fota House in East Cork, a beautiful 18th century building on Fota Island, for Diane and David's wedding. Diane was working at the Fota Island Wedding Showcase in September when she heard us playing, and had to have us for her own wedding! We played for their ceremony in the spectacular drawing room on the ground floor of the House, what a beautiful room to get married in!
For the entrance of the bridal party (including their gorgeous little flower girl Kelly who we had a nice chat with beforehand) we played Gabriel's Oboe, and followed it immediately with Here Comes The Bride for Diane's entrance. During the ceremony, David's sister-in-law Fiona sang Songbird with us, and there was not a dry eye in the room. It's such a beautiful song, and Fiona's singing was fantastic - we could tell it meant a lot to the couple to have someone from the family singing, it really was emotional and a wonderful moment to be a part of. There were some lovely readings and witty poems during the ceremony, and as it all came to an end we played Arrival of the Queen of Sheba.
Afterwards it was off to the Golf Club in Fota for the drinks reception and dinner. As I said to Diane in our final email; Pancake Tuesday, Valentine's Day AND a wedding, all in the same week - the lucky duck! Many more amazing weeks to come, all the very best to Diane and David!!!!
