On a gorgeous mid-July afternoon we played for Anne Marie and Barry's ceremony in Fota House, celebrated by Pastor Tom Burke of the Grace Christian Church, Cork. The ceremony took place in the room where dinner would later be served, and it was transformed during the drinks reception! Here's the music we played for the ceremony:

Entrance: Canon in D
Lighting of the Separate Candles: Salut d'Amour
Lighting of the Marriage Candle: Make You Feel My Love
Signing of the Register: Halo
Recessional: Viva La Vida

There was also a hand tying ceremony in the middle, where we played Gabriel's Oboe quietly in the background as various guests tied the ribbons (pictured on the right) around the couple's hands. This tradition binding hands is where the expression "tying the knot" comes from!

The ceremony was almost as short as a civil ceremony (eg those by the HSE), but included some religious elements and blessings, and they could really personalise it with readings (one in French!) and poems. It was a beautiful ceremony!

Afterwards,, guests enjoyed the good weather outside, the candy buffet (Lisa's Candlyland) and the mix of popular, classical and rock music we played for them. We took a little break in the middle and took some requests from a few guests, so for the last 45 minutes we just played what their guests wanted to hear! We had a great day in Fota and I'm sure our wonderful newlyweds and their guests did too. Congratulations Anne Marie and Barry!!

On a beautiful Thursday in June, we played for Liz and Daniel's outdoor ceremony at the Carlton Hotel, Kinsale. Their ceremony was celebrated by Michael of the Grace Christian Church, so they could have a fully legal ceremony, outdoors, which included some elements with a religious reference. If memory serves me correctly, our bride was from Cork, our groom from Brazil and currently living in New Zealand. Their amazing friend Tori Reed came all the way over to perform the music at the wedding, and she did an amazing job, we were so happy to work with her! Here's the music we played for the ceremony with Tori singing and playing keyboard:

As Michael asked the bride and groom to repeat their vows, Daniel repeated his in Portuguese, it was so nice, and they incorporated other traditions from each of their backgrounds to make the ceremony really special!

Our photos aren't the least bit professional (and Liz's uncle in in fact a professional photographer who did the photos on the day!), but hopefully you get an idea of what an amazing atmosphere there was on the day.
Sunshine, laughter, happiness, a view of the water, friends making music... it was so enjoyable for us to be a part of! Claire and her staff did a great job at the hotel and as always were very accommodating! We wish them all the very best and are so lucky to have been a part of a really unique wedding, thank you guys, and congratulations!!!!!

Carlton Hotel, Kinsale

For our penultimate May wedding, we played for Ursula and Ian's ceremony in the Carlton Hotel, Kinsale. Their ceremony was celebrated by Tom from the Grace Christian Church. This is like a civil ceremony, in that it's not in a Church, can be very personal, is fully recognised legally as a HSE ceremony... but it also incorporates a non-denominational Christian element where the couple are still able to acknowledge their faith. The ceremonies are laid back, deeply meaningful and can take influences from many different traditions.

Between readings: Ave Maria with Ursula's sister Caroline singing with us

Exit: Mendelssohn's Wedding March

The ceremony room in the Carlton overlooks the water outside and on such a beautiful day it was just a lovely space to be in. The ceremony lasted for about an hour and the guests were then treated to jazz singing in the foyer during the drinks reception.
It was so wonderful to have the bride's sister involved in the music also, making the song so much more meaningful for the couple! As she was bridesmaid we didn't even get to rehearse and she pulled it off like a pro! It was so nice for us to be able to accompany her, and to be a part of their day. They were so kind to write to us afterwards, weddings like this make me love the industry we're in! Congratulations Ian and Ursula!!!!!
