On 21 June, Catherine and Jason tied the knot in Blarney. I still have a note in my phone from something the priest said that I thought was worth remembering: "Marry the person you love, and love the person you marry". It appears Catherine and Jason are absolutely right for each other and it resonated well with them on the day that they were finally marrying the love of their life, it was a lovely sentiment! The music we played during the ceremony was as follows: |
Lighting of the Candles: Lascia Ch'io Pianga
Offertory: Schubert's Ave Maria (accompanied by Catherine's friend Maria who sang absolutely beautifully and was so nice to us before the church!!!)
Sign of Peace: Largo from Winter
Communion: Inis Oirr and Jesu Joy of Man's Desiring
Signing of Register: Married Life from Up! and Nothing Else Matters
Recessional: Paradise
Catherine wrote the following to us:
I just wanted to say thank you all so much for playing for us on our wedding day! Ye were absolutely fantastic!!!! We were absolutely thrilled and delighted to have you play for us. The music was absolutely brilliant and we thoroughly enjoyed listening to you play.Everyone since has been saying how good ye were :)
Thanks also for being so helpful in the run up and for taking the time to go through everything so thoroughly.
Thanks again for everything!
We did get to chat to the singer, the best man, other guests as well as the couple on the way out of the church, it was so nice to have a chat in the sunshine with the wedding party before heading to our next gig. We're sure with the longest evening of the year ahead of them they had time for great photos and had a fabulous party afterwards. Congratulations to Catherine and Jason!
Part 2- Ardpatrick
That evening, we played for a midsummer garden party in Ardpatrick, Co. Limerick (just outside Mitchelstown really, not so far!). There were relatives of the host, Pat, home from Australia for a little bit, and with school holidays beginning and people not yet abroad for the summer, he said it was the perfect time for a big gathering! They had a marquee outside their house, and we played as all the guests arrived until they all sat down to dinner. They were absolutely fantastic hosts and we hope they enjoyed their summer solstice with amazing food, drinks and sunshine! Thank you for having us! |
