Running from Thursday 11th to Sunday 14th, we had the pleasure to play for the Tango Festival's headline event: the Festival Ball! The crowd arrived to DJ Quique's tango tunes, and we then took to the stage to give a performance of a selection of tangos that the crowd could dance along to. Afterwards, everyone was treated to a display of dancing by all the teachers, and the festivities continued until 2am! Thank you to the Society for having us back again, and best wishes for plans for 2014!
On Saturday we were back in the Montenotte Hotel for Cork Argentine Tango Society's Festival Ball. We first played for them back in December for their Christmas Party, and were delighted to be asked back to play for a second time.

Yesterday we went to the gorgeous Ballyseede Castle in Tralee, Co. Kerry for Christine and Ray's wedding. Christine came across us at the Southern Brides Showcase at Silver Springs Hotel in Cork in September, and booked us shortly after. It later transpired that we live in the same town in County Cork, so we also got a chance to meet up for a chat about the music, and Christine and Ray had some great ideas! They picked a wide selection of classical music and also wanted some hymns that those attending the ceremony could sing along to. Here's the music we played for the ceremony:
Entrance: Pachelbel's Canon Hymn no.1: You Fill Up My Senses (Annie's Song) by John Denver Hymn. no.2: All Things Bright and Beautiful Candle Ceremony: Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring by Bach Signing of the Certificate: Water Music by Handel Recessional: Arrival of the Queen of Sheba by Handel The ceremony was officiated by Gabrielle of A Beautiful Ceremony - she is the mother in law of Romy who we worked with last week, it's a small world! We then stayed for the drinks reception where we sat on some very fancy furniture, playing through the classics and two new additions for the occasion: Zadok the Priest by Handel (better known as the Champions League theme tune!) and the title theme from Downton Abbey, a very fitting piece for the location! We had a fantastic day, and really enjoyed the trip down to Kerry in the sunshine. The venue was beautiful, everybody looked fantastic and I'm sure they had a wonderful evening! Thank you so much Christine and Ray for having us at your wedding. It's been a pleasure getting to know you two, all the very best wishes for the future, from all of us at Here Comes The Trio! |
